Mata Brahmacharini, jinka naam Navratri ke doosre din poore bhakti bhaav se liya jaata hai, Devi Durga ka doosra aur atyant mahatvapurna swaroop hain. Unka naam hi unke charitra ko batata hai: ‘Brahma’ ka arth hai tapasya, aur ‘Charini’ ka arth hai aacharan karne wali. Is prakaar, Brahmacharini ka matlab hai tap ka aacharan karne wali. Woh tyaag, balidaan, aur vairagya ki pratimurti hain. Unki katha humein sikhati hai ki kathin se kathin lakshya bhi dridh nishchay aur anushasan se haasil kiya jaa sakta hai. Purano ke anusaar, jab Devi ne Parvati ke roop mein Raja Himalaya ke yahan janam liya, tab unhone Narad Muni ke updesh se Bhagwan Shiv ko pati roop mein paane ke liye kathor tapasya shuru ki. Hazaaron saal tak unhone phal-phool khakar, phir patte khakar aur ant mein bina kuch khaye-piye tapasya ki, jiski wajah se unka ek naam ‘Aparna’ bhi pada. Unki is adbhut tapasya se teeno lok kaanp uthe aur ant mein Bhagwan Shiv ne unki prarthana sweekar ki. Isliye, Mata Brahmacharini ko tapasya aur gyan ki devi maana jaata hai. Unka swaroop ek tapasvini ka hai, jinhone safed vastra (white sari) dhaaran kiye hain. Unke ek haath mein japa mala (rosary) aur doosre mein kamandalu (water pot) hota hai. Yeh dono cheezein unke sanyasi jeevan aur adhyatmik shakti ko darshati hain. Unki upasna se bhakton ko man par niyantran, saiyam, aur anant gyan ki prapti hoti hai. Jo bhi unki pooja sachche man se karta hai, uske saare ruke hue kaam poore hote hain aur use anant punya milta hai. Unki katha har us insaan ke liye prerna hai jo apne jeevan mein kisi bade lakshya ko paana chahta hai.
Yeh chitra Mata Brahmacharini ke ek shaant aur bhakti se bhare drishya ko prastut karta hai. Bilkul beech mein, ek vishaal aur kalatmak sunahre singhasan par Mata Brahmacharini dhyan mudra mein virajman hain. Unki aankhein band hain aur chehre par ek alaukik shanti aur tapasya ka tej hai. Unhone ek pavitra safed rang ki sari pehni hai, jiske kinare par ek sundar golden border hai. Unka sharir bhaari paramparik sone ke aabhushano se sushobhit hai; gale mein ek choker, lambe haar, kaano mein baaliyan, baajuon par bajubandh aur kalaiyon mein kangan hain, jo unke devi swaroop ko aur bhi prabhavshali bana rahe hain. Unke gale mein safed aur teekhe gulabi phoolon ki ek lambi mala hai jo neeche tak aa rahi hai. Unke kaale baalon ko ek sundar jude mein baandha gaya hai, jiske upar ek vishaal swarn mukut shobha de raha hai. Sabse khaas baat unke sir ke peeche se nikalta hua ek chamakdar sunhara aabhamandal (halo) hai, jisse tez roshni ki kirnein phail rahi hain. Jis singhasan par woh baithi hain, wah bhi sone ka bana hai, uspar gehri kalakari ki gayi hai aur uski gaddi teekhe gulabi (magenta) rang ki hai. Yeh drishya ek vishal mandir ke hall ka hai, jahan pichhe bade-bade khambe dikhai de rahe hain. Poora mahaul bahut saare peetal ke diyon (diyas) ki garam, madhur roshni se jagmaga raha hai. Unke charano ke paas, unke bhakt—jinmein zyadatar daadhi wale purush aur ek mahila hai—safed paramparik vastron mein ghutno ke bal baithe hain. Sabke haath prarthana ki mudra mein jude hue hain, jise Anjali Mudra kehte hain. Farsh par gulabi aur safed phoolon ki pankhudiyan bikhri hui hain. Chitra ke sabse upar, bade, sunahre 3D aksharon mein "MATA BRAHMACHARINI" likha hua hai, jo is drishya ko ek adbhut aur adhyatmik anubhav banata hai.
Mata Brahmacharini se judi sabse lokpriya katha unki kathor tapasya ki hai, jo manushya ke liye dridhta aur nishtha ka sabse bada udaharan hai. Jab woh Parvati ke roop mein thi, toh unka ek hi lakshya tha – Bhagwan Shiv se vivaah karna. Unhone sabhi rajasi sukh-suvidhaon ko tyag diya aur ek tapasvini ki tarah jeene lagi. Unki tapasya itni kathin thi ki unhone pehle 1000 saal tak sirf phal aur kanda-mool khaye, uske baad 3000 saal tak sirf bilva ke patte (bel patra) khakar bitaye. Iske baad unhone patte khana bhi chhod diya, jis wajah se unka naam ‘Aparna’ (bina patton ke rehne wali) prasidh hua. Unki is tapasya ne srishti mein ek aisi urja paida ki jisse devta bhi chintit ho gaye. Ant mein, Brahma ji ne aakashvani ke zariye unse kaha ki unki tapasya safal hui hai aur jald hi Bhagwan Shiv unhe patni ke roop mein sweekar karenge. Yeh katha humein sikhati hai ki agar irada pakka ho toh koi bhi cheez asambhav nahi hai. Unke haath mein japa mala (akshamala) aur kamandalu ka bhi gehra arth hai. Japa mala lagatar dhyan aur Ishwar ke naam ke smaran ka prateek hai, jo man ko shaant aur ekagra karta hai. Kamandalu sanyasi ke jeevan, saaf-suthrepan aur aatm-nirbharta ko darshata hai. Navratri ke doosre din unki pooja karne se Kundalini shakti ka Swadhisthana Chakra jaagrit hota hai, jisse manushya apne emotions aur desires par control karna seekhta hai. Unka mantra "ॐ देवी ब्रह्मचारिण्यै नमः" (Om Devi Brahmacharinyai Namah) ka jaap karne se saadhak ko sahas aur shakti milti hai. Mata Brahmacharini ki katha sirf ek pauranik kahani nahi, balki yeh har vyakti ke liye ek jeevan ka paath hai ki tyaag, tapasya aur nishtha se hi sabse bada lakshya haasil hota hai.
